Capitol Hill
Hip Capitol Hill also referred to as “Cap Hill” is located just southeast of downtown Denver. Considered one of Denver’s most unique, exciting and charming neighborhoods, with its 1920’s architecture dominating the area. Capitol Hill is full of personality and is bounded by Broadway, Colfax, Downing, and Sixth Avenue. Colfax by the way is the longest contiguous street in the U.S., boasting 26 miles. Capitol Hill is ranked by Walk Score.com as one of the top 4 walkable neighborhoods in Denver.
Cheesman Park is north of Capitol Hill, although not part of Cap Hill, many consider it a Cap Hill park. Both Cheesman and Civic Center Park are host to numerous festivals during the year, one of them being the annual PrideFest gay pride parade that runs through Capitol Hill, and the other is the Capitol Hill United Neighbors-sponsored People’s Fair in early June.
You will find many of its diverse and eclectic population, originally known for its artistic, bohemian and musician residents living in studio and one bedroom apartments in the area. Between 10th and 11th Streets on Sherman Street, you will find the historic Poet’s Row, with its historic apartment complexes named after poets such as Emily Dickenson and Robert Frost. The neighborhood has been going through redevelopment with the building of beautiful condominiums catering to more affluent residents now as well. Capitol Hill is a fantastic mix of old and new buildings.
Capitol Hill is a truly beautiful and fun place to live. It is cosmopolitan in every way. With fantastic restaurants, entertainment and so much more all within close proximity to downtown Denver as well.
